The answer to this question depends on whether the item has been requested or not.

For requested items you will receive the following notifications from us:

  • A Library Alert when the item is requested by another user
  • A Library Alert via email on the day the item is due requesting return
  • A further Library Alert via email at 3 days overdue
  • A Library Final Reminder and billing notice via email at 7 days overdue. This reminder will result in a £35 Lost Item Charge per item being added to your Library Account.

Please note once the item comes back to us the Lost Item charges will be removed from your account, however be aware that fines are payable on overdue requested items.

For items that are not requested you will receive the following notifications from us:

  • A Library Alert via email on day the item is due inviting you to confirm you still need the item and renew
  • A Library Alert via email and further reminder to return or renew after 28 days have passed
  • A Library Final Reminder and billing notice via email after 56 days have passed. This reminder will result in a £35 Lost Item Charge per item being added to your Library Account

At any point in the process if the book is returned the Lost Item charges will be removed from your account. Please note that no fines are payable as long as items are not requested and if you are late renewing an item there will be no penalty.
